Hotel Restaurant Carnia
Livio and Maria Treppo - not even thirty years old - decided to build the Hotel Restaurant Carnia after the violent earthquake of '76 which completely destroyed the area on the northern outskirts of Venzone. The Hotel Ristorante Carnia was inaugurated in July 1979. The young couple asked for encouragement and suggestions from the masters of the time. Their point of reference will always remain Giorgio Trentin of Boschetti di Tricesimo, an example of sensitivity and elegance in this sector. A great imprint was left by Gianni Cosetti, a prestigious chef from Carnia who knew how to innovate while preserving the tradition of local cuisine. The most important meetings of the reconstruction took place in the room. Among the most memorable is that of President Pertini, who stopped in 1983 when he came to Friuli to visit the areas hit by the earthquake until the recent visit of Napolitano (May 2012). A hotel "child of the earthquake", but above all a symbol of rebirth, which was completely renovated twenty years later. The new restaurant was created in 1996: environments characterized by wooden furnishings, diffused natural light, welcoming spaces. Livio impresses a strong renewal also in the kitchen, not abandoning the tradition, but adding to the Carnia cuisine skilfully revisited over time also that of national inspiration and the creative one of the fish. In this particular combination the past still manages to relive in the present. For years, the restaurant has been offering a seasonal menu alongside the à la carte menu, with typical products characterizing the period. The Carnia Restaurant is associated with the "Friuli via dei Sapori" consortium and is part of the Restaurants of the Union of Restaurants of Good Memory.

Alongside these, to satisfy the needs of every palate, recipes more closely related to good classic Italian cuisine are also offered, made with simple, fresh and genuine ingredients. Fish is never lacking, both in appetizers and main courses. In addition to tasty dishes based on salmon or trout, we cook fish every day that arrives very fresh from the nearby Adriatic Sea: turbot, sea bream and sea bass are skilfully prepared by the skilled hands of our cooks who, based on the availability of the catch, offer dishes that are always unique.
A rich and varied "a la Carte" menu, with many specialties of Friulian cuisine
Our guests can choose from a rich and varied "a la Carte" menu which, in addition to meat or fish-based courses, also includes tasty cured meats, cold cuts and locally produced cheeses, such as the fine Sauris ham, San Daniele ham, and Montasio cheese which, combined with potatoes and onions, in the Frico recipe constitutes one of the best known and most appreciated typical Friulian dishes.
The atmosphere in the restaurant of the Hotel Carnia is convivial and relaxed. Our staff is always ready to satisfy the requests of our guests: for us it is very important to pay the utmost attention to the needs of those who need to follow particular diets, for example gluten-free or vegetarian diets, carefully preparing the dishes and the most suitable foods for different needs.
And since even and above all children need special attention, especially when it comes to satisfying their tastes in the kitchen, we can always prepare the things they usually appreciate the most, such as Milanese breaded steak with fries, pasta or gnocchi with tomato or meat sauce.
The "a la Carte" menu also includes exquisite homemade desserts, prepared with seasonal fruit and delicate creams.
In the large restaurant room it is also possible to organize business lunches or dinners, for example after spending the day in one of our meeting rooms, as well as banquets to celebrate the most important anniversaries with friends or family such as weddings, baptisms, birthdays .
And since we are in Friuli, where good wine has always been part of the local tradition, the excellent bottles from our wine shop cannot be missing from the table, to accompany and enhance the flavors of our dishes, whether they are typical local or national cuisine.
